Blake Bergeron - Football
Head Coach Scott Butt says, “Bake Bergeron had five solo tackles, two assisted tackles and one sack Friday night in the football game against Breckenridge. Blake is a very good athlete and quiet young man. Blake is a true leader by is actions on and off the field. Blake is a very consistent player; he will always be in the position that you need him to be in at all times. He is a fun person to be around and coach.”

Emily Samuelson - Volleyball
Head Coach Lon Boike says, “Emily has done an outstanding job since her move from right side hitter to middle hitter a few weeks ago. Her hitting numbers have greatly increased and she has done a great job of blocking! In a recent match against Warroad, Emily had 12 kills and several blocks!  Emily is a junior for the Pirates and also participates in basketball and golf.”

Mitchell Wright - Boys' Soccer
Head Coach Don Cox says, “Mitch is one of those quiet kids that doesn't call a lot of attention to himself, but he has become a go-to player whenever we need some versitility on the field. In the EGF game, Mitch was called on to cover both the defensive back position and the defensive midfield position during the game. There is a big difference in how each spot is played, but Mitch was able to hold the spots for us when he was assigned and helped us win the game. He shows every day in every way that he is a team player and a proud Pirate soccer player.”

Melida Argueta - Girls' Soccer
Head Coach Sarah Reese says, “Melida Argueta is this week's girls’ soccer player of the week. Melida has been playing exceptionally well in the latter half of the season. She has been playing a center-midfield position and as a defender.  She's very physical, plays smart, and has good field vision. She is the type of player that can play the full 80 minutes and works hard every minute.”

Amber Trostad - Girls' Tennis
Head Coach Mike Geffre says, “Amber is coming into her own this season and is 19-6 right now. She is playing some of her best tennis of the year right now. Amber has had some big wins in the last couple weeks, including a three-set second singles win over Park Rapids to give us 4-3 win. She is very coachable and works very hard in the summer time”

Kate MacGregor - Girls' Swimming
Head Coach Marley Melbye says, “This week’s varsity girls swimming  athlete of the week is Kate MacGregor. Kate is a 7th grade butterfly and backstroke swimmer. She has been an awesome addition to the girls’ swimming program. She has been involved with the Croc youth program for many years and has learned a great deal about competing and technique through her experiences there. Kate, at the Fosston Invitational this past weekend, showed great improvements in her races, dropping considerable time in both her 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke and being vital to our relays. I have great confidence that she will learn quickly and will be even more of an asset to the team. It is fun to watch Kate move through the water with such ease and grace.”
