  • Bemidji scored three unanswered goals Thursday to down the Pirates 4-1 at the CHS Soccer Field.
    Pirate freshman Doug Larson tied the game at 1-1 just 30 seconds after the Lumberjacks took a 1-0 lead, but Bemidji grabbed a 2-1 lead before the half and added two in the second half.
    Senior Justin Burgoz made nine saves in goal for the Pirates, while Bemidji's Matt Bitter stopped nine shots, all in the first half.
    The Lumberjacks, 10-1-1 on the season, lead the Section 8A North standings. Crookston, 2-10-1 overall, is in sixth place of seven teams.
    The Pirates will host East Grand Forks Tuesday at 4 p.m. before closing out the regular season at home on Saturday, Oct. 6 against Hibbing at noon.
