  • The Pirates were nipped 4-3 Thursday by the Green Wave in a dual in East Grand Forks.

    Crookston's wins came at first doubles from junior Lizzy Awender and freshman Leah Trostad, third doubles from senior Shelby Lindtwed and junior Rachel Kanten, and third singles from junior Amber Trostad.

    The Pirates nearly got their fourth win at second singles but the Green Wave's Chessa Jones upended Pirate senior Lilli Denison in three sets.

    The Pirates are now 4-2 in duals this season. They will compete in Alexandria this Saturday in duals with Holy Family Catholic, Alexandria and Sauk Centre.
