  • The Red River Sugarbeet Museum in Crookston this year is honoring the Kritzberger Family of Hillsboro, N.D. for continued dedication and leadership to the sugarbeet industry.

Francis and Lynn began raising beets in 1974 when the Hillsboro factory was built. Their sons have since taken over their operations.  Jim worked on construction of the factory and has worked there ever since in a management position.  His sons and son-in-law all work for the cooperative. His son Cory was recently named to head all ag operations for the co-op.

The Kritzberger family will be featured in the Ox Cart Days Torchlight Parade on Saturday. They will again be honored at the museum’s 8th Annual Harvest Festival on Sept. 9 at the museum. It’s free and all are welcome. Events start at 10:30 a.m., with dinner at 11:30 and harvesting at 1:30 p.m., first using a team of horses followed by other restored vintage harvesters and ending with a 12 row Amity harvester.  Also, there will be threshing of wheat with steam all day.
