He's accused of padding travel expenses.

The chief executive of a city-owned Redwood Falls hospital has been fired after he was accused of double-dipping on travel expenses.

The Redwood Falls City Council in a unanimous voted Tuesday evening agreed to terminate Redwood Area Hospital CEO Jim Schulte. He was charged this week with two gross misdemeanors.

A criminal complaint accuses Schulte of being reimbursed about $1,000 by a medical imaging equipment company for travel from August 2010 through November 2011. Schulte is a director for the company, Central Minnesota Diagnostic Inc. The complaint says Schulte also filed for reimbursement from the city for the same trips, and the city paid.

KLGR (http://bit.ly/O3r91B ) reports about 20 people attended the meeting in support of Schulte. He did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
