  •  Staff at Theodore Roosevelt National Park in western North Dakota used flashlights and horses to rescue a hiker after he became dehydrated and texted for help.
Park spokeswoman Eileen Andes tells The Dickinson Press that 23-year-old Andrew Sparks was well-prepared for a two-night outing in the park's North Unit, but he lost a water bottle. The high temperature in the area on Monday was 96 degrees.
Sparks texted for help about 7:30 p.m. Monday and was brought out of the backcountry shortly after 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. Andes did not know where Sparks is from.
