United Blood Services will conduct a blood drive at RiverView Health, in meeting room #1, on Friday, Aug. 10 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Organizers say there is an immediate need for all donors who are eligible to sign up. Forty more donors are needed for the Friday drive.
It’s typically more difficult for United Blood Services to find donors in the summer, organizers say, even though the need for blood is always urgent. Over 500 pints of blood are required each day to meet the needs of area patients.
The following are patients who have needed blood in recent weeks from people just like you.?
-A newborn baby boy used 4 units for a heart surgery?
- A 50 year old male used 9 units for orthopedic surgery?
- A 5 day old baby girl used 3 units for respiratory distress
Don’t forget about the Hero Rewards program: You earn points for every appointment you make and every blood donation to earn free things like t-shirts, gift cards for CDs, video games, movie tickets and more.
Appointments are encouraged. Email Holly Anderson at email@example.com, or call her at 281-9745. Or, go to bloodhero.org to sign up. The sponsor code to register online is “riverviewhealth.”
