  •     A familiar face is seeking to return to the Crookston?School?Board. Bob Altringer, who didn’t seek another term in the last election, is one of the first to file for one of the board seats up for election. Others filing so far include William?Enlow and incumbent Frank Fee.
There are three, four-year term seats up for election on the board; in addition to Fee’s seat, the seats held by Robin Brekken and Nick Nicholas (who was appointed to finish the term of Deb Kiel) are up for election. Nicholas has filed his candidacy for Polk?County commissioner in District 3 and will compete in the Aug. 14 primary.
On the Crookston?City Council, incumbents filing for re-election to date include Tom?Jorgens in ward one, Keith Mykleseth in ward three and Dale Stainbrook in ward five. Frank Lindgren’s at-large seat is up for election and he has indicated he is not seeking another term. Filing so far for that seat are Espo, who’s run unsuccessfully for mayor in the past, and Wayne Melbye, currently the council member representing ward four.?If Melbye were elected to the at-large seat, a ward four resident would presumably need to be appointed to finish Melbye’s term.
The filing window closes at 5 p.m. on Tueday, Aug. 14. School board candidates can file at the school district office at the high school. Call Marilyn Wahouske at 281-5313, ext. 2103 for more information.
City council candidates can file at the city clerk’s office at city hall.?Call Angie Menge at 281-4503 for more information.
