  • Reds swept out of league playoffs by Thieves

  • The Thief River Falls Thieves completed the North Border League playoff series sweep over the Crookston Reds Sunday with a 9-1 win at Jim Karn Field. Thief River Falls won game one on Friday 6-5 in Thief River Falls.
    "I would like to thank the guys for their dedication," Reds manager Justin Johnson told the Times Monday morning. "I would like to thank the Times and KROX for their reporting. Overall, it was a long but fun season."
    Matt Morin suffered the loss on the mound in game one, pitching all eight innings. Dillon Nelson made his first start of the season in game two for the Reds and suffered the loss, allowing four earned runs, eight total, in three innings.
    Justin Buegler went 2 for 4 in game one to lead the Reds at the plate, while Aaron Motl led the team in game two, going 2 for 4.
    Thief River Falls advances on to play the winner of Roseau and Warroad.
    The Reds season comes to an end at 7-13.
