Janet Florence Gostanczik, 65, of Bemidji, MN, formerly of Crookston, MN, died early Thursday morning, July 12, 2012 in Bemidji, MN.
Janet was born on February 22, 1947 to Frank and Florence (Nowacki) Banaszewski. She lived the past twelve years in Bemidji, MN.
For most of her life, she worked at Violence Intervention Project (VIP). One of her most rewarding experiences was receiving the McKnight Foundation award in Human Services in 1994, which recognized exceptional personal commitment to helping others.
Janet loved spending time at the cabin on weekends with family. She also enjoyed playing cards and knitting.
Left to mourn her passing is her son, Jared Gostanczik of Minneapolis, MN. She is also survived by siblings Dwayne (Barbara) Banaszewski, Carol (Raymond) Benke and twin sister Janice (Robert) Blazejewski, as well as 17 nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service in celebration of the life of Janet Florence Gostanczik will be held at 1:30 pm, Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at Assumption Church in Florian, MN. Visitation will be at the Assumption Church on Monday, July 16, 2012 after 5:00 pm with a 6:30 pm prayer service and rosary and also one hour before services at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be at Assumption Cemetery in Florian, MN. The DuBore Funeral Home is assisting with funeral arrangements.
