  • Carol Ann Evenson, 64, of Crookston, MN, died peacefully early Tuesday evening, July 3, 2012, after a determined struggle against cancer. Carol was born in Shakopee, MN on September 9, 1947, one of three children of the union of Rawleigh and Martha (Zeman) Lindner. She grew up in Victoria, MN and graduated from nearby Waconia, MN High School in 1964.  Carol next attended Bemidji, MN State College, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1972. She then moved to St. Louis Park, MN and was employed as a Financial Worker for Hennepin County Social Services. She was united in marriage to Lyle Evenson on November 1, 1975 at Winger, MN. The couple made their home in Winger and their marriage was blessed by the births of 3 children: Christy, Tiffaney, and Evan. During these years Carol worked a substitute teacher in East Polk County. Starting in the late 1980’s, she began serving as a Social Worker for Polk County Social Services, while also becoming a Mental Health Practitioner with Crookston’s Northwest Mental Health Center. She moved to Crookston to make her home in 1997. Carol retired from Polk County Social Services in 2011, while remaining with Northwest Mental Health until recently.
Carol was a devoted member of the Church of Christ, 321 5th Avenue South in Crookston; served as treasurer of the church’s Mission Study Group; and helped with the Vacation Bible School program. When her children were younger she was a Sunday school teacher for many years at the Calvary Lutheran and Dovre Lutheran Churches in Winger. Professionally, Carol served on the MN Department of Human Services Brain Injury Committee for six years, with three of those as Chairperson; and was also the Facilitator for Regional Case Managers’ meetings. She loved her family dearly and was very proud of her grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them. She was active with ProLife, and felt very rewarded by her work with the organization. Carol’s great joy came from her lifelong love of art. Earlier in life, and for the past five years, she enjoyed pottery, creating pieces both wheel thrown and hand-made. She was also a very talented painter of landscapes and still-lifes. Many of Carol’s paintings and pottery have been on display at various art shows and exhibits throughout the area, and she was well regarded by the artistic community.  She will be very sadly missed by all who shared in her life. May God richly bless the memory of Carol Ann Evenson.
Loving family members include her 3 children: Christy (Brandon) Moulds of Fisher, MN, Tiffaney (Christopher) Primeau of Grand Forks, ND, and Evan Evenson of Middle River, MN; 3 grandchildren: Nick Johnson, and Mason and Lyvia Primeau; a brother, Jerry (Carol) Lindner of Wyoming, MN; other relatives and many friends. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Rawleigh and Martha Lindner; and a sister, Shirley Lindner.
