  • A bakery in the southwest North Dakota town of Hebron that sent kuchen (KOO'-kuhn) to buyers around the country has closed.
Myron and Betty Lapp tell The Dickinson Press (http://bit.ly/vegZwy ) their plan was to sell Lapp's Bakery and its recipes for the traditional German dessert and then retire, but there's no buyer at this point. They sold the building the bakery was in late last year and can't afford the rental rate while trying to find a buyer for their business, so they now might just retire.
The new owners of the bakery building aren't commenting on what they'll use it for.
The Lapps sold their kuchen to grocery stores in the region and through the Internet for nearly 14 years. Betty Lapp calls it "the end of an era."
