Rose was born in Grand Forks, ND on December 18, 1923, the daughter of Jacob and Frances (Kotrba) Kresel. She was baptized and confirmed at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Tabor, MN, attended country school near Tabor, and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in East Grand Forks. Rose attended Teacher’s Normal Training at Central High School in East Grand Forks, and then taught for two years in local rural schools. She was united in marriage to Aldon Johnson on May 13, 1943 in East Grand Forks and the couple made their home on a farm near East Grand Forks.  Three children were born to their union: Eileen, Gwen, and Jerrol. Rose later attended Aaker’s Business College in Grand Forks. She moved to Crookston in the late 1970s and was employed by the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in the dietary and laundry departments for many years until her retirement. Rose was a very kind, caring, and gentle lady. She enjoyed crocheting, and it was known by many that she made the nicest potholders and clothes hangers. As a longtime resident of the Summit Apartments and Nursing Home, Rose was much beloved by the Villa staff and her many special friends in residence.
