    • Kestrels raise flight to local attention

    • Two Kestrels, a male and female, were recently banded for research by the Agassiz Audubon Society. Part of a community nest project, the community was encouraged to take an active role in watching and researching wildlife. The recently-born Kestrels were taken from their nest in a Kestrel box off of Polk County Road 67, banded, and replaced in their box. The birds are checked on every week, with researches drawing blood, checking health standards and conditions and then safely replacing them in the box. A sight to see for the community, the Kestrels definitely brought a lot of attention to the Northwestern Minnesota area.
